Leading Fixers & Production Support

Jacques and Antoinette have helped us on a number of shoots for different broadcasters – and they been absolutely brilliant every time, no matter what we throw at them! They know the whole of South Africa very well so Jacques is a great locations scout/fixer and they are very well connected which means that they get good rates for permits etc., and have found us amazing locations all over South Africa, even when our filming requirements have been very particular. For natural history shoots much of the filming takes place in remote locations and Jacques has prepared camps for the crew, which are luxurious (the crew have camp beds and side tables) and he also arranges all the food/water so they can concentrate on their work. He also sorts out the electricity so that they can charge batteries, and back up footage. Jacques and Antoinette are excellent at providing ‘Health and Safety’ information, and will go out of the way to find nearest doctor and hospitals and also find out about mobile phone coverage. They have also helped us arrange difficult permits and organised some very tricky customs situations with ease. On top of all this, Jacques shoots 2nd camera well and has access to kit and knowledge of local hiring opportunities. Jacques and Antoinette stay in touch throughout would be an asset to any production. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We used Jacques and Antoinette for a recent shoot and cannot recommend them highly enough! From the setting up of the shoot and sorting all the permits etc. they proved an invaluable service. On location we were based with Jacques who found us some last minute accommodation due to some changes. Jacques was superb in his support from cooking 3 course meals 3 times a day, sorting hired vehicles to his brilliant campfire stories and local knowledge. He went above and beyond and wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to use SANHU on any further shoots to SA.

Jacques & Antoinette were a great and friendly team to have on our production. They have a unique set of skills as fixers after working in production roles for years previously. Jacque's high knowledge in kit, meant the kit was kept safe, any kit logistics or moves were efficient and communication was easy between himself and the camera team. He has the ability to solve any issues in the camera department from batteries in cargo to engineering kit accessories. I can confidently say, Antoinette can solve anything! I felt so looked after by her, she provided anything we needed and more. I feel like I have not only a trust worthy contact in South Africa for future shoots but a friend for life. As a team they not only do what is asked by production but think of all the little things that make a shoot go so much smoother. Little perks like ground floor rooms to make lugging kit easier, or even simple pleasures like a fruit bowl in our room on return from a long shoot. I am excited to work with them again in the future, and will be making sure every production I work on uses them from now on!

We have been working with Antoinette and Jacques on our most recent project. It was a near impossible shoot to turn around during the pandemic. They enabled the shoot to happen with their hard work, attention to detail and dogged determination. They are also an absolute joy to work with and despite the difficulties there were always smiles and laughter throughout the fixing. I look forward to working with them both again in the (near) future.
